Youth and Family Ministry

Our Director: Rosemary Sibley
As a result of her work with Head Start for ten years, Rosemary comes to us with a long experience in children and their families. Rosemary, who has worked as a volunteer with our youth group for the last 20 years, began her full time work with FLC in October of 2003.

Our Mission Goals:

  • Help our youth and families to grow in faith
  • Provide nurturing experiences in Bible study and confirmation ministries
  • Equip our youth for service by providing servant events
  • Provide fellowship opportunities with our youth
  • Help our youth to minister to each other and their class mates
  • Encourage parents in their role as mentor for their youth
  • Give FLC members the opportunity to mentor our youth
  • Lead our youth through the Stepping Stones program
  • Develop a post-grad group
  • Involve youth in Worship

Means to accomplish our Goals

  1. Work with Pastor Greg in developing this ministry
  2. Work with the congregational council and the Education Committee
  3. Develop a relationship with the youth in Sunday School and youth groups
  4. Work with the other youth people of our community and synod
  5. Meet with families and encourage active participation in the church
  6. Support the confirmation instruction
  7. Help adult leaders and youth leaders to organize regular activities
  8. Organize major youth trips and servant events
  9. Teach and serve as an example for the youth
  10. Keep up with new ideas in youth ministry

Mission opportunities in Youth and Family Ministries

  • Volunteer to be a youth helper or mentor
  • Contribute to youth sponsored fund raisers
  • Encourage youth in what they do at church
  • Pray for our youth and their programs
  • Teach or be an advisor for the Sunday School or VBS
